Canals and choreographed water jets.

The Place de la Mairie in the French city of Troyes is separated from the road by a long wooden walkway that runs alongside two canals. Wooden footbridges allow people to cross over. The first canal consists of a thin sheet of water with a series of small water falls to account for the sloping terrain. The second canal is equipped with parabolic water jets that can be programmed for different choreographies.

The  jumping jets, also known as sequential jets, spurt water either s a continuous or intermittent stream. The sequence and synchronisation of the jets can be used to spectacular effect, making it seem as if small tubes of water dance across the space.
