Weathering steel fountain

This sculpture is constructed with weathering steel (often known by the brand name ‘CorTen’) and represents the slow percolation of water down to the water tables.  It evokes the intimate relationship between water and earth in the formation of rocks and the revolution of the planet.

The structure is comprised of 62 steel plates. The water flows from plate to plate creating a series of moving threads of water that are the result of the natural tension and viscosity of water. When taken as a whole, the moving water creates the impression that the heart of the sculpture is vibrating.
